Town of Clatskanie

Incorporated in 1891 the lovely town of Clatskanie was named after the Tlatskanai tribe of American Indians, who lived in the hills south of the Clatskanie River, in the upper Nehalem Valley.

Fall Creek Falls

Just east of the town of Stella is Fall Creek, with Fall Creek Falls, or Stella Falls as it is sometimes called, visible from the highway. It’s a short hike down to the base of the 51 foot falls.

Saddle Mountain Trail

Multiple peaks to pose on up the trail. Relatively easy hike. Incredible, vast views of the surrounding area and Oregon Coastline. View faces south offering the perfect spot to watch sunrise AND sunset.

Beaver Falls Trail & Spa

The waterfall is roughly 50 ft. tall and can swell anywhere from 20-40 ft. wide. The pool below Beaver Falls sits in a beautiful basalt amphitheater, which was once created by molten lava.

Boat & Kayak Ramp

A handy boat ramp and dock in downtown Clatskanie at river mile 1.2. Signs at the site inform boaters about non-native Mitten Crab and ask that they be aware and report them.

Fitness Center

A fun activity for the kids the town had the foresight and budget to provide a tensile cover over their small wooden skatepark, making it a perfect destination for a rainy afternoon or sunny day.
